Have you ever wondered where children living in shelters go during the day? Where do they learn? Where do they play? Where do they go to feel safe? Bright Beginnings understands the special needs of young children and families living in homeless environments. Our safe, nurturing, developmentally-appropriate childcare for homeless infants, toddlers and preschoolers helps them reach important childhood milestones, while we help their parents to end their homelessness.

2016 Transition Ceremony
As we look ahead to the new school year, we must also reflect on the achievements of this year's transitioning class and prepare to send our Pre-K students to kindergarten.
During the annual transition ceremony, Bright Beginnings' 7 classrooms performed their favorite songs or skits for family and friends, demonstrating important learning milestones. Each student was presented with a diploma to acknowledge the progress made this year.
The graduating Pre-K class also received essential school supplies and custom backpacks for their next steps as kindergarten students. Congratulations to the Bright Beginnings class of 2016 and every BBI student this year!
Thank you to our sponsors at Courage for Kids and Events DC for your generous donation of school supplies and refreshments.
2nd Annual Bright Beginnings Staff Awards Banquet
At Bright Beginnings, we strive to celebrate the hard work and dedication of our team of 50 teachers, social workers, and specialists. On Saturday, June 25th, the Bright Beginnings Employee Relations Committee hosted the 2nd Annual Staff Awards Banquet at Old Engine 12 Restaurant. Staff enjoyed a delicious brunch while the ERC and management team presented every employee with a certificate, acknowledging their contributions and commitment to the mission and vision of Bright Beginnings, Inc. The Dr. Betty Jo Gaines Award, signifying excellence in education and family services, was presented to Linda Harrison, a Head Start teacher who has served Bright Beginnings for almost a decade. Congratulations to the entire Bright Beginnings team!
Pre-K teacher Tara Perry has been educating and empowering Bright Beginnings’ children for 15 years. Her dedication and enthusiasm for the job is essential to the success of this organization. Ms. Perry will represent Bright Beginnings this fall at the National Black Child Development Institute’s (NBCDI) 44th Annual Conference, “Bright Past, Better Future: Remember and Rise Up!” It is through conferences such as the NBCDI that we become an even stronger and better-equipped organization that stands ready and prepared to educate children in these challenging times. Thank you, Tara, for your commitment to Bright Beginnings.
